Bandits kill two, abduct 13 in Sokoto

Two persons have been killed and 13 abducted in Mamman Suka community of Gwadabawa local council of Sokoto State.

Bandits reportedly attacked the community at the weekend and opened fire on the residents.

The community has been frequently attacked by gunmen, who kidnap for ransom and rustle livestock, among sundry crimes.

The incident, according to reports, has left many residents in fear, with some contemplating leaving the community.

The council chair, Alhaji Aminu Aya, confirmed the attack, saying the assailants operated freely for hours without resistance.

“The bandits abducted 11 females and two males. They also rustled some livestock and went away with valuables including mobile phones and money. All these happened without any intervention nor support from the security agents.

“I also appeal to the army and other security agencies to make efforts to rescue the victims taken away by the attackers,” he said.
