Benue killings: Youths block major Makurdi roads

A large number of young people took to the streets in Benue State on Sunday to protest the escalating insecurity and repeated attacks plaguing the region.

In defiance of heightened security presence, the demonstrators gathered at the well-known Wurukum axis of Makurdi, the state capital, calling for an end to the ongoing killings.

Clad predominantly in black and wielding palm fronds, the protesters carried placards bearing various messages. They obstructed traffic on key roads, causing significant disruption and raising concerns among commuters.

The demonstration comes on the heels of continued violent attacks that have left scores dead in several local government areas, including Guma, Gwer West, and Apa.
