Both Ekpa and Ayaba have been accused of waging violent breakaway campaigns that have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of security forces and civilians.
Ekpa, who has been accused of being the mastermind of violent enforcement of Monday sit-at-home order in the South-East of Nigeria, claimed to be an unrepentant disciple of the detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
