President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dauda Ali Biu as acting corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps as Boboye Oyeyemi bowed out of service.
Oyeyemi disclosed this on Monday while handing over to You at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja.
Biu, before now, was the Deputy Corps Marshal of Finance and Accounts at the FRSC.
A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem on Monday confirmed the development.
Oyeyemi said that President Buhari appointed Biu as the Ag. CM with effect from July 24 wishing him a successful tenure as he assumed office.
The FRSC Chairman, Mallam Bukhari Bello, also congratulated the appointed acting CM and urged him to sustain the tempo as well as ensure the mandate of the corps was carried through.
Bello said that the former corps marshal, Oyeyemi, laid a good foundation and legacy, urging the appointed Ag. CM to carry out the vision effectively.
The acting corps marshal appreciated the management of the FRSC and the Presidency for the appointment, pledging his diligence and zeal in carrying out the FRSC mandate effectively.
Biu promised not to let the system down, adding that he would strive to ensure the mandate of FRSC was pursued vigorously in line with the objective.
Biu joined the FRSC in 1988 and has had a fruitful career working across several formations.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University and was the Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Finance and Accounts in 2014 before becoming the DCM in 2016.
The event was attended by important dignitaries such as Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and Secretary General to the Federation (SGF) Mustapha Boss.
Oyeyemi is the first corps marshal to be pulled out of service and the last of the founding fathers of the corps.
