Bauchi State Government says four local government areas have been infiltrated by suspected Boko Haram members after the vandalisation of a telecommunication mast in Gamawa.
It said the influx of people from neighboring Yobe where a recent attack was carried out by Boko Haram in Geidam community might have made the affected communities vulnerable to attacks by the terrorists.
Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Sabiu Baba said five people had been arrested in connection with the mast vandalisation.
He said this while addressing newsmen at the Government House Bauchi on Monday shortly after a security meeting between the governor and heads of security agencies.
He identified the affected councils as Gamawa, Zaki, Dambam and Darazo.
He, however, said the state government was working to beef up security surveillance around neighboring communities.
He said Governor Bala Mohammed had provided the needed support to security agencies to intensify patrol and surveillance, particularly at the vulnerable communities which share border with Yobe State.
