Maiduguri, Borno State — Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have kidnapped the newly elected Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area, Alhaji Saidu, along with two councillors and several other passengers on Wednesday evening along the notorious Kamuya village–Buni Yadi road in Borno State.
The victims were travelling to Maiduguri following Saturday’s local government elections when the assailants intercepted their vehicles. Sources revealed that the abducted officials include councillors representing Zarawuyaku and Miringa wards, as well as the immediate past vice chairman of Biu LGA.

Community leaders and residents have called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify rescue operations and restore safety along the Biu–Buni Yadi corridor, which has long been a hotspot for Boko Haram/ISWAP attacks.
This incident adds to a growing string of terror-related abductions in Borno State, including the recent kidnapping of 12 female farmers in Askira-Uba Local Government Area, underscoring the ongoing security challenges in northeast Nigeria.
