BREAKING: 11 passengers die in Abia autocrash

Eleven passengers of a commercial bus have reportedly lost their lives in a tragic accident that occurred on Sunday, August 11, in Abia State.

According to reports, the only survivor of the crash was the driver of the vehicle, which collided with a stationary truck on the Apu Na Ekpu/Egbelu Mbutu section of the busy Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Details of the accident were still unclear at the time of reporting, but witnesses, including both commercial and private vehicle drivers, suggested that the bus driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the collision.

The victims were said to have died on the spot before any assistance could arrive.

The public relations officer of the command, Maureen Chinaka, had not yet responded to calls and messages sent to her mobile phone.

However, it was learned that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary.
