Breaking: Bobrisky sentenced to six months imprisonment without option of fine
Controversial cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky has been sentenced to six months imprisonment without any option fine for abusing the naira.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos, in her sentence, said the judgment would serve as a deterrent to others fond of abusing and mutilating the naira.
Last month, Brobisky sprayed naira at the premiere of Ajakaju, a film by actress and producer, Eniola Ajao, at Film One Circle Mall, Lagos.
Videos of the “spraying” at the event were circulated widely on social media.
‘Shim’ was also charged with doing the same at other events over the past year.
However, two counts of money laundering were dismissed by the court.
Bobrisky’s lawyer Ayo Olumofin argued that Bobrisky was a first-time offender and should be treated as such.
“We have confidence in the court and justice will be done,” he said.
In February, actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin was sentenced to six months in prison for spraying and stepping on new naira notes.
