President Muhammadu Buhari has asked members of the Federal Executive Council who are nursing ambitions to contest elections in 2023 to quit his cabinet.
Those who have expressed interest in contesting the presidential primary election of the All Progressive Congress are Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, Labour Minister, Chris Ngige; Science and Technology, Ogbonaya Onu.
Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, who addressed journalists in Abuja after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, reported Buhari as giving the order.
Also, an aide to the president, Tolu Ogunlesi, disclosed this in a tweet on Wednesday, “Just in: All members of President Buhari’s cabinet vying for public office will have to resign on or before May 16, 2022.”
