Siminalayi Fubara, Nyesom Wike
BREAKING: Gov Fubara cancels N195 billion ring road project initiated by Wike
Rivers state Governor Siminalayi Fubara has put a halt to the N195 billion Ring Road project that former Governor Nyesom Wike had started.
This decision comes as the power battle between Fubara and Wike for the state’s political leadership heats up.
The abrupt cancelation of the high-value infrastructure project illustrates Fubara’s growing divide with his predecessor.

Governor Fubara’s conduct is considered as a foreshadowing of a possible conflict with Wike in the near future. Fubara has already taken significant action by firing some of Wike’s followers from his ministry. The decision comes in response to moves by Wike-aligned legislators in the state House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fubara.
The political feud between Fubara and Wike has been compounded by allegations that, although serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Wike has remained influential and in control of Rivers state issues.
The postponement of the multibillion-naira project, as well as the political maneuvering, point to an impending clash between the two political heavyweights, which could reshape the dynamics of power and governance in Rivers state.
