Despite repeated warnings by government and threat by security personnel, hoodlums have continued to break into warehouses and public buildings looting materials.
A mob invaded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja, on Tuesday morning, looting some of its items including mattresses.
The mob was said to have arrived at the camp early Tuesday morning before blocking the road.
The hoodlums that blocked the road were armed with knives and other dangerous as they turned back motorists who ran into them.
Videos of the scene shared on social media show some of the hoodlums scaling the fence of the camp even as some residents of the area reportedly joined in the looting.
The looting, which started with COVID-19 palliatives’ warehouses in Lagos, Abuja, Osun, Kaduna and virtually every state of the federation, was extended to other areas, including government and private establishments as well as banks.
The miscreants became more daring in some areas where they invaded airport and customs warehouses in Ilorin, private residences of senators in Ibadan, Bauchi and Calabar some of who were at home, and a psychiatry hospital in Calabar.
Some desperate looters who engaged security personnel had to pay with their lives.
About 1,000 suspects have been reportedly arrested across the country and some items recovered from them.
