BREAKING: NAFDAC raids fake drinks factory in Aba after viral social media photos

In Abia State, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) swiftly raided a suspected plant for producing bogus drinks.

The move was prompted by a widely shared image on social media that appeared to show a factory allegedly making fake drinks.

After the alarming photo surfaced, exposing dubious manufacturing methods, NAFDAC moved quickly to launch an inquiry.

After that, a focused operation was started to deal with the state’s alleged production of tainted drinks.

During the raid, part of NAFDAC’s intensified efforts to combat the production and distribution of fake consumables, particularly beverages, the agency discovered several facilities engaged in the illicit production of various spurious drinks.

The operation, in collaboration with security agencies, uncovered clandestine production setups engaged in counterfeiting popular brands of wines, soft drinks, and other consumables.

The seized facilities were found to be operating in unhygienic conditions, utilizing questionable ingredients, recycled bottles, and cloned packaging materials, all of which raised serious concerns about the safety and authenticity of the products being manufactured.

As part of the operation, NAFDAC destroyed a substantial quantity of the confiscated fake and substandard products estimated at a significant monetary value.

Additionally, multiple individuals associated with these illegal operations were apprehended and will face thorough investigations and subsequent legal actions.

NAFDAC encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities related to producing or distributing counterfeit goods to the nearest NAFDAC office.
