BREAKING: PDP suspends national secretary, other key national officers
The internal crisis plaguing Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), intensified on Saturday as the National Working Committee (NWC) announced the suspension of several high-ranking officials over allegations of anti-party activities.
At a press briefing in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, revealed that the NWC, during its 608th meeting held on November 1, 2025, resolved to suspend the following officials for 30 days:
Ologunagba stated that the suspended officials have been referred to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for further investigation. “During the suspension period, they are barred from performing their official duties,” he said.

In line with Section 36(2) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), the Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo, will serve as Acting National Secretary. Meanwhile, the National Director of Legal Services has been directed to oversee the legal department pending further decisions.
The NWC cited conduct deemed detrimental to the party’s image and unity as the basis for the disciplinary action. This development follows a Federal High Court ruling on Friday that halted the PDP’s planned National Convention, originally scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The suspension and court ruling represent significant setbacks for the PDP, which has been grappling with internal divisions and leadership disputes in recent months. Political analysts warn that the escalating turmoil could undermine the party’s cohesion ahead of future electoral contests.
Stay tuned for updates as the PDP navigates this turbulent chapter in its political journey.
