Ijeoma Josephina Otabor popularly known as Phyna Sunday night emerged winner of the Season 7 Big Brother Naija grand prize, N100m.
She came first in the three-month-long reality TV show, beating Brian and Bella, the first and second runner-up respectively.
Phyna, a 25-year-old singer who had been one of the most popular housemates, won with 46.74% of the final votes from the public, while her closest rival. Brian, got 26+% votes.
This year’s grand prize is the highest since the show debuted in 2006.
The organisers had earlier said N50 million is the cash prize while the other N50 million is an estimation of prizes from the sponsors.
The show commenced with the eviction of Daniella, Chichi, Adekunle and Bella, climaxing into a suspense who would win between Phyna and Brian.
The audience erupted into an ecstasy as soon as the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, announced Phyna as the winner.
The show also featured performances from top Nigerian music stars including MI Abaga, Falz, and Pheelz.
Phyna’s stint on the show was dominated by talks about her relationship with Groovy, a fellow housemate.
She also made the headlines for becoming the head of house (HoH) in the eighth week and her clash with Hermes.
Phyna has joined the exclusive list of the reality television show winners namely Katung Aduwak, Efe Ejeba, Miracle Igbokwe, Mercy Eke, Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba (Laycon), and Hazel Oyeze Onou (Whitemoney) of season 1-6 respectively.
A total of 28 housemates participated in this season titled ‘Level Up’ edition.
The seventh season commenced with a double premiere on July 23 and 24 and ran for a today of 72 days.
