BREAKING: Popular Islamic scholar and preacher, Muyideen Ajani Bello dies at 84
Popular Nigerian Islamic lecturer Sheikh Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello has died at the age of 84, leaving an inedible mark on the Muslim community and his fans across the country.
His death was confirmed by his son, Katibi Abdul Basit Olanrewaju, popularly known as Aponle Anobi, today, December 6th, 2024. He took to his Instagram page to share the Sheikh’s picture with a tearful emoji.
Popular Islamic sheikh Taofeeq Akewugbagold also confirmed his death via his Facebook page as he penned his tribute to Alhaji Muyideen.
He wrote, “Today is one of my saddest days ! My father and mentor, has returned to his creator. SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh muhyideen AJANI BELLO,may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah fridaos for you . Our heart is full of grief and our eyes full of tears but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator the sole commander of life and death – ALLAH.”
It is worth noting that Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello was one of the richest Alfas in Nigeria He was a highly respected Nigerian Islamic scholar and cleric, celebrated for his eloquence, profound understanding of Islamic theology, and dedication to promoting religious education. Born in the mid-20th century in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, he established himself as a prominent figure in the Muslim community both nationally and globally.

Sheikh Bello made significant contributions to Islamic education by helping establish and run several schools and institutions. These schools focus on quality education while teaching Islamic values. He also promoted a balanced approach to learning, combining religious teachings with modern sciences and humanities.
Although the cause of his death is still unknown, fans and followers flooded the comment section to share their condolences.
Sheikh Muyideen was born in 1940 as a member of the Bello Ajani family, which hailed from Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Ibadan. His parents were Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello.
Sheikh Muyideen commenced his formal Western education at I.D.C Primary School, Elekuro, Ibadan, where he also completed his secondary education. Between 1963 and 1967, he studied at Mahdul Arabiy, Elekuro, and gained substantial knowledge in Arabic and Islamic studies.
From an early age, Alhaji Ajani Bello exhibited a strong interest in Islamic propagation, preaching in various parts of Ibadan city from the age of 10. Following this, he went on to teach at various secondary schools located in Oyo, Ogun, and Kano States. In addition to this, he was appointed as the Missioner for the distinguished Islamic organization, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria.
Sheikh Muyideen has frequently been invited to share the message of Islam across the globe, including in countries such as the UK, US, and neighboring African nations.
