BREAKING: Tension as Bayelsa Dep Governor Ewhrudjakpo Collapses, Admitted to FMC
Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – Tension gripped Yenagoa on Thursday after Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo reportedly collapsed in his office and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.
The incident occurred around 1:30 pm, prompting an emergency response as eyewitnesses described the deputy governor as being in serious condition. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he is currently stabilized.
No official statement has been issued regarding the cause of his health scare, though sources suggest it may be linked to a cardiac emergency. A close aide noted that the deputy governor has a demanding schedule, saying, “He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest.”

Security operatives have cordoned off the hospital, and several top government officials visited to express concern. Efforts to reach the deputy governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, for comment were unsuccessful. Hospital sources confirmed that Senator Ewhrudjakpo is receiving optimal medical care and remains stable.
The incident has sparked widespread concern across Bayelsa State, highlighting the pressures faced by high-ranking officials in the state government.
