BREAKING: Tension as gunmen storm party secretariat in Rivers, shoot security guard
In a disturbing escalation of violence, gunmen have reportedly attacked the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, shooting a security guard.
The incident, which occurred around midnight, follows another attack less than a month ago when the party’s secretariat in the New GRA area of Port Harcourt was bombed.
Sunny Wokekoro, the state chairman of the APP, briefed journalists at the scene on Wednesday, expressing uncertainty about the details surrounding the latest attack.
The injured security guard is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, but the extent of his injuries remains undisclosed.

Despite the presence of police officers who were stationed at the secretariat after last month’s bombing, the authorities have yet to provide any information on this new assault.
Wokekoro voiced his concerns regarding the effectiveness of the police investigation, particularly given that there has been no update on the previous bombing.
The chairman and other party leaders took journalists to the hospital where the wounded guard is being treated, but hospital staff did not allow the press to speak with the victim.
Despite the ongoing threats, Wokekoro affirmed that these attacks will not deter the APP from continuing its operations or participating in the upcoming local government election next month.
The party remains resolute in its commitment to its political activities, even as it faces these serious security challenges.
