Tinubu Meets with Wike, Fubara and Rivers Leaders in Aso Rock
BREAKING: Tinubu Holds Reconciliation Meeting With Wike, Fubara, Rivers Leaders at Aso Rock
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has convened a high‑level political reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, bringing together Nyesom Wike, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and other Rivers State political leaders in a bid to resolve the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.
The closed-door meeting, described by observers as a continuation of ongoing peace efforts, follows months of tension between Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and a powerful political figure, and Fubara, the current Governor. The dispute has involved the Rivers State House of Assembly, party structures, and executive authority, raising concerns about governance and stability in the oil-rich state.
The Rivers political crisis intensified in early 2025 after disagreements between Wike and Fubara escalated into a prolonged standoff. President Tinubu previously intervened by declaring a state of emergency in Rivers and appointing an administrator to oversee governance during the impasse.
A similar reconciliation effort took place in June 2025, when Tinubu convened Wike and Fubara at Aso Rock. Both leaders publicly declared that peace had returned to Rivers State, committing to work together for stability and development.
