BREAKING: Tinubu, others receive Buhari’s body from London in Nigeria

The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Nigeria from London, ahead of his burial scheduled to take place later today in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

The late president’s remains touched down at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina, where a solemn atmosphere enveloped the arrival ceremony. Vice President Kashim Shettima accompanied the body from the United Kingdom, where Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 following a brief illness.

Present at the airport to receive the late leader’s remains were President Bola Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, members of Buhari’s family, and several senior government officials. A military honor guard stood at attention as the casket was respectfully received.

The late Buhari, a former military Head of State and two-term civilian president, left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s political and socio-economic landscape.
