Breaking: Tinubu sacks Defence Chief, appoints Oluyede, Shaibu, Aneke, Abbas as new Service Chiefs
President Bola Tinubu has approved sweeping changes in Nigeria’s military leadership, relieving General Christopher Musa of his duties as Chief of Defence Staff and appointing new service chiefs in a move aimed at bolstering national security.
In a statement issued Friday by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication, Tinubu named General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff. Oluyede previously served as Chief of Army Staff.
Major-General W. Shaibu takes over as Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke has been appointed Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff.

However, Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The statement read in part: “President Bola Tinubu has made changes in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs in furtherance of the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria to strengthen the national security architecture.”
The President expressed appreciation to the outgoing service chiefs for their “patriotic service and dedicated leadership,” and charged the newly appointed officers to “justify the confidence reposed in them to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
The reshuffle marks another major step in Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to recalibrate Nigeria’s security apparatus amid persistent challenges across the country.
