BREAKING: Tinubu urges NASS to increase 2025 Budget to N54.2trn

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday urged the National Assembly to increase the N49.7 trillion 2025 budget to N54.2 trillion.

Tinubu’s letter of request was read by Senate President Godwill Akpabio during plenary.

Tinubu attributed the need for the increase to additional revenues generated by key government agencies.

According to the president, the amount and the agencies include, N1.4trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service, and N1.8trillion from other government-owned agencies

After reading the letter, Akpabio referred it to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for swift consideration.

Akpabio also assured that the budget would be reviewed and passed before the end of February.
