(BREAKING)Edo poll: Court strikes out Shuaibu, others’ suit against PDP candidate, Ighodalo
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit filed by impeached Deputy Edo Governor Phillip Shuaibu and others, which sought to nullify Asue Ighodalo’s candidacy for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State.
The plaintiffs alleged that Ighodalo forged his voter’s card.
Justice James Omotosho ruled on Wednesday that the suit was statute-barred, as it was filed outside the 14-day window permitted for pre-election cases under Section 285(9) of the Constitution.

Furthermore, Justice Omotosho stated that the plaintiffs failed to prove the forgery allegations against Ighodalo.
While forgery or lack of a voter’s card could disqualify a candidate under Section 182 of the Constitution, the evidence presented was insufficient to support the claim.
