BUA Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu Offers $500,000 Reward for Super Eagles’ AFCON Semi-Final Win

Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a $500,000 cash reward for Nigeria’s Super Eagles if they secure victory in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The pledge follows the Super Eagles’ impressive win over Algeria on Saturday, a result that confirmed Nigeria’s place in the AFCON last four and renewed national optimism.

In addition to the base incentive, the Nigerian billionaire promised an extra $50,000 for every goal scored in the semi-final, further motivating the team as they push for an eighth AFCON final appearance.

Rabiu made the announcement in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, where he praised the players for lifting the nation’s morale with their performances.

“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria,” Rabiu wrote. “You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.

“To encourage you, I pledge USD 500,000 to the players upon winning the semi-final, with an additional USD 50,000 for every goal scored.”

The BUA Group chairman also disclosed a significantly larger incentive should Nigeria go on to lift the trophy. He pledged $1 million for winning the AFCON final, alongside $100,000 for each goal scored in the decisive match.

“Should you go on to win the final, I further pledge USD 1,000,000, plus USD 100,000 for each goal scored in the final,” he added, urging the team to continue making the country proud.

The Super Eagles are expected to face host nation Morocco in what promises to be a high-stakes AFCON semi-final clash, with both teams battling for a place in the final. Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, are aiming to reclaim continental glory after near misses in recent tournaments.
