Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara

I will not govern Rivers on my knees – Gov Fubara sends warning to political detractors

Rivers governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, yesterday vowed that he would not rule on bended knees regardless of what he called the ongoing fierce fight to destroy the soul of the state.

Fubara, who is currently locked in a political battle with his immediate past predecessor, Mr Nyesom Wike, pleaded for the support of all well-meaning people of the state to save it.

He made the comment at the Ubima country home of a former governor of the state, Sir Celestine Omehia, in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

The governor, accompanied by some elders of the state, was on a condolence visit to Omehia on the recent death of his mother, Mrs Ezinne Cecilia Omehia.

Fubara, according to his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, said the visit was to demonstrate love and show support to Sir Omehia.

He stressed the need for every true lover of the state to stand up and be counted in the fight to safeguard the soul of Rivers State.

His words: “Anybody who claims to love this state should not be party to anything, directly or indirectly, that will bring us backwards.

“We will continue to support every course that will advance the interest of our dear Rivers State. And I am happy to say, and I’ve said it over and again, it doesn’t matter the number of people that are standing with me; I will stand on that side of truth. I will not, I repeat, I will not govern our dear state on my knees.

“If that was the purpose, I will not do that. I will stand to govern our dear state and stand continually on the side of right.

“But politics of bitterness will not take us anywhere. So, I want to thank you that, at this stage, we have a few of you who understand that Rivers State belongs to every one of us. We must, therefore, fight together to sustain the soul of this state.”

No prophet married only one wife in the Bible – Celestial Church’s founder’s son

No prophet married only one wife in the Bible – Celestial Church’s founder’s son

Olatosho Oshoffa, the son of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide, Bilewu Oshoffa, has shared his thoughts concerning polygamy in the church, saying the church doesn’t forbid the practice.

The shepherd of CCC International Headquarters, Ketu, Lagos, while defending his late father’s large family declared that no prophets in the Bible had one wife.

“Can I tell you something… (sic)? You see, in that scripture, Paul was only advising. Tell me in the Bible, which prophet of God had only one wife? Do your research and tell me,” Oshoffa said in an interview with Punch.

The late Oshoffa left 13 wives and 53 children behind raising concern about his lifestyle even as the leader of one of Nigeria’s Christian congregations.

However, Tosho, as the younger Oshoffa is also called, dismissed such concern, saying that despite his late father already having three wives, God still gave him the vision to start his ministry 76 years ago.

“I am sure in 1947 if there was a better candidate to found CCC, Oshoffa wouldn’t have been chosen.

“But because there wasn’t a better candidate, he was the only one that God found worthy to found CCC, despite having three wives. So those condemning my father should know that he never had any concubine.

“He married them (his wives), and they were all under his roof. But today, the so-called men of God with only one wife will have concubines outside.

“Which one is better? So, I will tell you that if God were to judge by the number of wives before sending a bishop or pastor on a mission, my father would have been disqualified because he had three wives before God called him,” he stated.

When asked how his father was able to keep his large family closely knitted, he said his father never trained the children from different mothers.

“Let me tell you something, my dear brother. Our father, while on earth, used to gather us together and tell us, never say you are a son or daughter to any of my wives. But tell yourself, you are a son of Oshoffa.

“This means he used that girdle of love to tie us together. So we don’t see ourselves as children of our various mothers but as children of Oshoffa. That is the same way we related when he (Oshoffa) was still in this world and has been doing after his demise.

“Even today, the remaining Oshoffa wives that were younger than my mother, I still refer to them as my mother, because of the love that our father (Oshoffa) has used to bind us together. So, we all remain one as SBJ Oshoffa children,” he added.

On the leadership crisis rocking the celestial church, the cleric said such a crisis was expected after the departure of the founder. He was, however, hopeful that the problems would soon be resolved.

He, however, declared that his eldest brother, Rev. Emmanuel Oshoffa, is the leader of the church

“Now, when the founder of this church departed, the same way Jesus Christ departed, there were troubles among the apostles about who would lead.

“The same way as well that according to history, the Catholic Church at a time had multiple Popes. But today, they have only one Pope after so many centuries.

“This is the same situation with CCC. After the demise of its founder, there was so much trouble. The apostles also faced the same challenges on succession as those of the Catholic Church.

“…But as of today, the most acclaimed and accepted leader in CCC all over the world is the first son of the founder, my eldest brother, Rev. Emmanuel Oshoffa, who is based in Imeko, Ketu, and Makoko, the headquarters of the church,” he added.

Omokri has been paid to go after Obi – Haruna Goroh

Reno Omokri and Haruna Goroh

Omokri has been paid to go after Obi – Haruna Goroh

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has been accused of being bankrolled by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to repeatedly attack Peter Obi.

According to a statement by Dr. Haruna Goroh, a social media influencer, he alleged that the way Omokri is “obsessed about discrediting Obi and legitimizing” Tinubu’s administration shows “what he is doing is now his full-time job.”

Goroh’s statement was in reaction to a statement by the former presidential aide who offered $10,000 to Peter Obi and his followers to “substantiate their now-viral claim that @waecnigeria deleted a post proving that Peter Obi took Anambra to Number One in education.”

Omokri, a firm critic of Obi, had said that “WAEC did not delete any posts. Their post is still on their X handle. What happened is that WAEC posted a link to a YouTube video from someone else. The video was not from them. Please fact-check me: WAEC does not have a YouTube video.

“The YouTube video itself was flagged for fraud by YouTube and pulled down. It has nothing to do with WAEC.”

Reacting to the former presidential aide’s statement, Goroh alleged that Omokri had already been given a job by Tinubu, which was not made public.

He alleged that Omokri’s obsession “about discrediting Obi” follows his desire to satisfy his paymasters.

“I am now convinced that Reno is being paid to go after Obi. I used to think that he was attacking Peter Obi to be noticed and given an appointment by Tinubu,” Goroh said.

READ ALSO:

“I think he was already given the appointment, but they did not make it public because of the nature of the work he’s expected to do.

“The way that Reno is obsessed with discrediting Obi and legitimizing Agbado’s regime, I am sure that what he is doing is now his full-time job.

“The way that Reno is devoting so much time to digging out things to discredit Obi, he must be doing it as his paid full-time job,” he added.

Describing Tinubu as a political “guru,” Goroh said, “Tinubu is a guru when it comes to paying money to get what he wants. Reno is offering a monetary reward to people who have proof or evidence that will clear Peter Obi of what he is accusing him of.

“Where is Reno getting the money from? The same Reno that once exposed all the lies that surround Tinubu has forgotten all that because of what he is getting from Tinubu.

“I am not Igbo, nor am I sponsored by Obi or the Labour Party to speak for them. If my assertions are wrong, then Reno should stop saying anything about Obi for a month, and I will be convinced that he is not sponsored by Agbado Master.”

Goroh further mentioned that “Omokri keeps attacking the Obidients as if they are the ones behind Nigeria’s problems. Tinubu stole the elections and is ruling with a mandate that was not given by the people.

“The Obidients were not mobilized by Obi. They are the young people of Nigeria who are tired of these political thieves who have wreaked havoc on their country.

“They only saw one person who possessed the qualities needed to bring about that desperately desired change, and that person was Obi. The obidient are not only from the Igbo of Southeast extraction but are from all over Nigeria.

“What Reno is doing is what I call a deliberate diversionary tactic of this regime—to take the attention of Nigerians away from the evil of Tinubu’s regime.

“Nigerians are not fools; they are seeing what is happening. You can’t oppress the people forever; one day, they will push back.”
