Cabal hijacked power after Buhari victory in 2015 – Dalung
Former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung has described how a cabal allegedly took control of governance after Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 presidential victory.
Speaking on the Mic On Podcast, published on Sunday, Dalung shared insights into the influence of these powerful groups during Buhari’s administration.
When asked to define a cabal, Dalung explained, “It is a group of ambitious individuals appointed by the president to help govern, but they run the presidency for their interests.”
He revealed that shortly after Buhari’s victory, a group “emerged from nowhere” and sidelined those actively working for the president’s campaign.

Dalung recounted his experience:
“When Buhari was declared winner, I was with him in his office. That same evening, I went to see him, but I was blocked from entering his house. The night before, I was there until 2 a.m. without issues.
“It wasn’t until I made several calls that I was allowed in. From that moment, the cabal had taken over,” he stated.
He further noted that those who worked tirelessly for Buhari’s success left to celebrate, leaving the president vulnerable. “These people, who understood power, seized control and ran the government to suit their interests for eight years,” Dalung added.
The term “cabal” had frequently surfaced during Buhari’s presidency, with several reports suggesting that certain powerful individuals were influencing the administration behind the scenes.
