Community leader and Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, whose four relatives are among the abductees, confirmed the attack. He revealed that one of his wards escaped through a church window around 6:06 p.m., and that kidnappers had begun contacting families, demanding N100 million per person.
“From what we gathered, the kidnappers have grouped the victims and are calling families through each group. Some community members have received ransom calls,” Olukotun said, adding that he was still awaiting updates about his relatives.
The Eruku attack, which spilled onto the Ilorin–Kabba Road, forced commuters to abandon vehicles and flee into nearby bushes. The Kwara State Police Command, under CP Adekimi Ojo, has deployed additional personnel to reinforce security and track the perpetrators.
The incident comes less than 24 hours after 25 schoolgirls were abducted in Kebbi State, highlighting a growing wave of banditry and insecurity in Nigeria.
