CBN Deputy Gov, Aisha Ahmad departs the country following her release
Aisha Ahmad, the Deputy Governor responsible for Financial System Stability (FSS) at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has embarked on an overseas trip. This comes after her recent release from questioning by the Special Investigations Panel (SIP) led by Jim Obazee, which was investigating matters related to the CBN.
According to sources, Aisha Ahmad left the country to represent the Central Bank at an international meeting.

In July, President Bola Tinubu appointed the special panel to conduct an investigation into the apex bank in the wake of the suspension, arrest, and prosecution of the former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele. Emefiele faced allegations of financial misconduct, the award of multi-billion Naira and dollar contracts, as well as fraudulent activities.
Aisha Ahmad’s involvement pertained to her alleged acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank, and Union Bank. Additionally, she faced inquiries about the sourcing of $300 million to finalize the acquisition of Union Bank by Titan Bank.
