Civil servants: Governor approves N3bn death benefits, N70,000 minimum wage
One of the governors in the country, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, has approved the sum of N3 billion to be allocated for the payment of death benefits to the families of deceased civil servants in the state.
Additionally, he has mandated an immediate implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for workers.
Governor Zulum made the announcement on Thursday during a meeting with the Technical Committee responsible for the implementation of the National Minimum Wage in Maiduguri.

He explained that the initiative was intended to bring relief to the families of the late workers, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to improving the welfare of the state’s workforce.
In his address while handing over the cheque to the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Zulum reiterated his administration’s dedication to clearing the backlog of gratuities and reviewing pension benefits upward for retirees.
