One Adejoke Adegbite has been remanded over killing of her husband, Matthew Akinsulie, in Ekiti state.

The 23-year-old Adegbite was remanded alongside one Olasunkanmi Olowoyeye by an Ekiti State Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ado Ekiti District,

He adjourned the matter till August 7, 2023, for mention.

The charge against the defendants read, “That Olowoyeye and Adegbite on June 26, 2023, at Ogotun Ekiti, reasonably suspected to have committed an offence of conspiracy to murder and murder of Akinsulie.”

The offences were said to be “contrary to Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.”

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sadiq Adeniyi, said the deceased’s father, in his statement to the police, explained that Adegbite was his late son’s wife, adding that Olowoyeye was her lover, and the duo were allegedly responsible for his son’s death.

Adeniyi, who said the duplicate case file had been forwarded to the office of the DPP, urged the court to remand the defendants to the correctional centre pending legal advice.

The court did not take the plea of the defendants and the defendants were remanded.
