Cross River rep dumps PDP over crisis
The member representing Obudu, Bekwarra and Obanliku Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Akpanke has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a letter seen on Thursday, Akpanke disclosed that his decision to leave the party was fueled by the current internal leadership crisis rocking the Party.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect. This decision is borne out of the incontrovertible reality that the party, due to persistent internal leadership crises, has descended into a state of discord and fragmentation.”

“The once cohesive and visionary platform has now lost the ideological clarity and unity that initially attracted me. The resultant ideological deviation and lack of internal harmony have rendered the party unable to fulfil its founding commitment to the realisation of a truly progressive geopolitical entity, which our dear country so desperately needs.”
“I remain sincerely grateful for the opportunity the PDP provided me as a platform for expressing my political aspirations and serving my people.”
However, this newspaper learned that Akpanke is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the coming days.
