Cubana Chief Priest Claims Davido’s Grammy Loss Linked to “Demonic Forces” in Music Industry
Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has claimed that Davido’s recent loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards was a deliberate attempt by some music executives to pressure him into “demonic activities.”
Davido, the Afrobeats superstar, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys, held at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, California, but lost to South African singer Tyla, who won with her hit song “Push 2 Start” from the album Tyla.
In a post on Instagram, Cubana Chief Priest suggested that the setback was linked to Davido’s refusal to align with certain Western music industry practices he described as “demonic.” He encouraged the singer to stay true to his values, continue producing music, and not be discouraged by the loss.

The 2026 Grammy Awards saw stiff competition in the category, including Burna Boy with “Love”, Ayra Starr, Wizkid with “Gimme Dat”, Davido with “With You” featuring Omah Lay, and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin with “Hope & Love”. Tyla’s win marked her second Grammy award, having previously won in 2024 for her single “Water.”
Despite the Grammy loss, Cubana Chief Priest urged Davido to remain focused on entertaining his fans and producing hit songs, reinforcing that recognition is not the sole measure of talent.
