Cultists kill police inspector in Lagos
Suspected cult members have killed an inspector of police in the Ijanikin area of Lagos State during a misunderstanding with a member of the gang.
The unidentified policeman was reported until the incident was attached to the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan.
Meanwhile, policemen from Ijanikin police station have arrested the leader of the gang, simply identified as Sunday Igboro, AKA Ashila.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the killing as well as the arrest of the cult group leader.
It was gathered that the unnamed police Inspector had a disagreement with a member of the cult group around Ijanikin.
Residents of the area, who spoke on the incident, said that the cult member mobilized his other member and attacked the policeman, killing him in the process.

The deceased policeman was said to be a few metres away from his house when the cult members hacked him to death.
The killing of the policeman created serious panic in the area as residents hurriedly closed their businesses for fear of being arrested by the police.
Hundeyin said that the police are on the trail of other members of the gang while also saying that cutlasses were recovered from the home of one of them.
The Lagos State police spokesperson said, ” At about 8 pm, someone came to the station to report that some group of boys had a misunderstanding with one Inspector attached to Zone 2 Headquarters on Friday, July 21, 2023.
“The gangs reinforced and attacked the victim with an axe and inflicted various degrees of injuries on his head.”
“A team of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijanikin, CSP Afolabi Kazeem, moved to the scene where they met the lifeless body of the victim.
“The suspects fled, but one of them was arrested, and a cutlass was recovered from the home of the fleeing suspects,” the police image maker also said.
