Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, reportedly earned a massive payout after correctly predicting the outcome of Nigeria’s opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The DMW Records boss placed a wager on the Super Eagles’ Group C clash against Tanzania in Fes, Morocco, predicting that both teams would score—a prediction that proved accurate as Nigeria defeated the Taifa Stars 2-1 in an entertaining encounter on Tuesday.

Ademola Lookman’s late strike secured the victory, ensuring all three points for Nigeria and giving Davido a handsome return of $96,564 (about N150 million) on his investment.

During the match, Nigeria dominated possession for large stretches but fell behind early after Tanzania scored. The Super Eagles rallied, equalising before Lookman’s decisive goal sealed the comeback, placing Nigeria in a strong position in Group C as they pursue their fourth AFCON title.

Nigeria will now focus on their next group-stage match, aiming to build on the opening-day success and progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
