Davido Joins Accord Party, Aligns With Uncle, Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced his decision to formally join the Accord Party, signaling his political alignment with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The award-winning singer made the announcement on Tuesday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, revealing that he would be in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday to collect his Accord Party membership card.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card at Imole House, Osogbo, tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY,” Davido wrote, tagging his uncle, Governor Adeleke.
Davido’s political move comes barely two weeks after Governor Ademola Adeleke officially adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The governor had formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party on December 9, 2025, during a ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, attended by national and state leaders of the party.
Explaining his decision at the time, Governor Adeleke cited the lingering leadership crisis within the PDP at the national level, disclosing that he joined the Accord Party on November 6 after wide consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders to pursue his re-election bid.
Following his uncle’s defection, Davido had earlier reacted on social media by reposting the announcement with the caption, “Jeje…”, a move now seen as a prelude to his own formal entry into the party.
