In 2018, he paid a historic visit to the iconic Afrika Shrine in Lagos, the spiritual home of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, describing it as a vibrant hub of African culture and music.

The latest development comes on the heels of the Création Africa Forum held in Lagos last week, which spotlighted Africa’s rising stars in digital fashion, gaming, animation, and immersive tech. The forum, an initiative of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and curated by Maison des Mondes Africains, aims to foster cross-continental collaboration and investment in digital innovation.

Davido’s meeting with Macron is seen by many as a nod to the global influence of Afrobeats and the role of Nigerian creatives in shaping international cultural narratives.
