Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has set social media buzzing after revealing his recent meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The music icon took to his official X account on Thursday to share photos from the high-profile encounter, captioning the post: “It was an honor meeting #EmmanuelMacron and sharing our visions for a better world.”
While Davido kept the details of their conversation under wraps, the meeting is being hailed as a significant moment in the growing cultural diplomacy between Nigeria and France.

Macron, known for his admiration of Africa’s creative industries, has previously made symbolic gestures to strengthen ties with the continent’s entertainment sector. In 2018, he paid a historic visit to the iconic Afrika Shrine in Lagos, the spiritual home of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, describing it as a vibrant hub of African culture and music.
The latest development comes on the heels of the Création Africa Forum held in Lagos last week, which spotlighted Africa’s rising stars in digital fashion, gaming, animation, and immersive tech. The forum, an initiative of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and curated by Maison des Mondes Africains, aims to foster cross-continental collaboration and investment in digital innovation.
Davido’s meeting with Macron is seen by many as a nod to the global influence of Afrobeats and the role of Nigerian creatives in shaping international cultural narratives. With France increasingly engaging African talent, the encounter signals a new chapter in artistic diplomacy and global partnerships.
