Body of kidnapped Anambra lawmaker found near 2nd Niger Bridge
Body of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has been discovered near the 2nd Niger Bridge
His decomposing body was found by a combined team of security officials.
Azuka, who represented Onitsha 1 North Constituency, was abducted by gunmen on December 24, 2024, while returning home via Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha.
The Labour Party (LP) lawmaker recently reclaimed his mandate after a court ruling nullified the victory of Hon. Douglas Egbuna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was initially declared the winner of the 2023 election.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the kidnapping was a swift and brazen operation, lasting less than five minutes.

“We have arrested the culprits that kidnapped and killed him. They were arrested very late last (Wednesday) night and they now went and showed the security men where they dumped the corpse,” a security source said.
The incident highlights the security issues in Anambra State, where a sitting lawmaker was abducted in the heart of Onitsha.
On Tuesday, it was learnt that kidnappers had a field day along Awka Road in the centre of Onitsha as they reportedly fired several gunshots during an abduction attempt.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, could not be immediately contacted for reaction.
