DeeOne Urges FG to Probe NGO Finances Over Alleged Terrorism, Kidnapping Links

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been urged to launch a comprehensive investigation into the financial records of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating across the country amid rising concerns over alleged misuse of charitable platforms.

The call was made by popular Nigerian comedian and reality TV star, DeeOne, who raised alarm over what he described as suspicious financial activities being carried out under the guise of humanitarian work.

In a video shared on his official Instagram page on Wednesday, DeeOne alleged that some NGOs have deviated from their core humanitarian mandates and are allegedly being used as channels to fund terrorism, kidnapping, child trafficking and human harvesting.

According to the entertainer, the sudden accumulation of wealth by some NGO founders, particularly following so-called “rescue missions,” should attract urgent scrutiny from national security agencies and financial regulators.

“Federal Government of Nigeria, please investigate all the NGO accounts in the country. A lot of them are being used to sponsor terrorism, kidnappers, child trafficking and even human harvesting,” he said.

DeeOne stressed the need for a thorough audit of NGO finances, noting that while humanitarian organisations play a vital role in society, charity must not become a cover for criminal activities or profit-making at the expense of human lives.

He claimed there is a growing trend where individuals exploit public sympathy to establish NGOs and allegedly amass wealth through questionable means.

“In Nigeria today, once somebody rescues another person, the next thing is they open an NGO and suddenly become multi-millionaires,” he alleged.

The comedian clarified that his call was not an attack on legitimate wealth creation but a demand for transparency and accountability in the NGO sector.

“We are not saying people should not make money, but it has to be legitimate and not at the expense of people’s lives,” DeeOne concluded.
