Diaz Makes AFCON History as Morocco Defeat Cameroon to Reach Semi-Finals
Brahim Diaz continued his remarkable AFCON 2025 form on Friday night, scoring his fifth goal of the tournament as Morocco secured a 2–0 victory over Cameroon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat, to book a place in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.
The Atlas Lions dominated proceedings from the outset, controlling possession and tempo against the five-time champions. Their breakthrough arrived in the 26th minute when Diaz’s body diverted a goal-bound header from Ayoub El Kaabi into the net, a finish that underlined Morocco’s sustained pressure.
The goal further etched Diaz’s name into AFCON history, as the Real Madrid forward became the first Moroccan player to score in all five matches at a single Africa Cup of Nations, taking his tournament tally to five goals.
