A medical doctor has been arrested in Calabar, Cross River State, for alleged sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl who was on admission in his clinic.
Police confirmed the arrest yesterday.
A letter written by the Principal Counsel to the Civil Society Group; Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, James Ibor Esq. alleged that the doctor harassed and abused their client.

It was claimed that the doctor “led her into his consulting room and instructed her to totally undress, but when she hesitated, the doctor said that all doctors who examine or check a patient with difficulty in breathing require the patient(s) to fully undress for proper examination. He then assisted her to pull down her clothing”.
“He placed a stethoscope on her chest several times, and after a few minutes dropped it and leaned his weight on her and started groping her breast while moaning. The assault continued through the three days she was on admission in the hospital.”
The Basic Right Counsel Initiative in the letter demanded the investigation of the Police Commissioner in the state, noting that they have video and audio evidence to prove the allegations against the medical doctor.
