Dogo Gide, notorious bandit, ‘bans’ consumption of narcotics in Zamfara villages

Dogo Gide, a notorious armed bandit, has imposed a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol and other dangerous drugs in some communities in Dansadau Emirate in Maru local government area of Zamfara state.

The notorious bandit, who has a base in Kuyanbana forest straddling Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger and Kebbi states, has asserted control over Babbar Doka, a community.

Last week, his men murdered another notorious kidnapper called Damina.

He has warned residents that anyone caught supplying or consuming narcotics would be publicly executed.

A source told Daily Trust that Gide had earlier confiscated narcotics from suspected dealers and set them ablaze.

He, thereafter, calculated the monetary value of the drugs and paid those who supplied them, warning his boys and other residents against consuming such narcotics.

“The recent raids on suspected informants’ houses in Dansadau town by soldiers saw the arrest of some of the suspected drug suppliers including some one called Zakin Goro.”

“Some times, these criminals would come to local medical shops to buy such narcotics. They would inject themselves with Pentazocine and move away. This is apart from other drugs such as tramadol and so on.

“But the armed groups are heavily patronizing one injection called Pentazocine and is being secretly supplied to them inside forest by drug dealers cum informants,” the source added.

The chairman, Nigerian Medical Association Dr Mannir Bature in Zamfara state described Pentazocine injection as a strong pain killer given to patients intravenously, saying it is being abused by armed criminals.

He said Pentazocine kills pains in patients especially those who are to undergo surgical operations so that they will have minimal painful experience in the process.

He said it sometimes causes hallucinations for the abusers.
