Kayode Adeniyi, the 47-year-old driver of the Lexus SUV involved in a tragic crash that killed two of Anthony Joshua’s closest friends, has been formally arraigned.
Adeniyi appeared before Sagamu Magistrate Court on Friday, facing charges of manslaughter, reckless driving, and related offences, The Nation reports. The case has been adjourned to 20th January 2026, according to the Ogun State Police Command.

The accident, which occurred on Monday near Danco, Ogun State, saw the Lexus, carrying Joshua and two members of his training staff, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele, crash into a stationary truck transporting soya beans. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the crash to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking by Adeniyi.
A spokesperson for the police, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that Adeniyi, a long-standing member of Joshua’s Nigerian logistics team, had been discharged from a Lagos hospital on New Year’s Eve before being driven to Abeokuta, where the fatal crash occurred.
Reports indicate that Adeniyi was driving well above the 65 mph speed limit on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when a tyre reportedly burst, causing him to lose control of the vehicle during an overtaking manoeuvre.
The vehicle involved bears the registration number KRD 850 HN. Investigations are ongoing as authorities prepare for the next court hearing.
