DSS arrests APC chieftain who threatened to make Kano ungovernable
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a Kano-based politician, Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, over his alleged threat to mobilise the masses to start an uprising and make Kano ungovernable.
A senior official of the secret police in Kano confirmed to Daily Trust that the controversial politician, known for his critical takes on issues on local radio in the state, was arrested after a video of one of his latest interviews on a radio station went viral and was brought to the attention of the security agencies.
The official, who asked not to be named, revealed that after the arrest, Kwamanda was handed over to the police and was subsequently charged before a Magistrate Court in the state. The court thereafter ordered his remand in a correctional facility.
Daily Trust gathered that in the interview that triggered Kwamanda’s arrest, he alleged that the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had concluded plans to restore Muhammadu Sanusi, the deposed 14th Emir of Kano.

In the shared video, Kwamanda expressed his intention to mobilize the masses to take to the streets of Kano, initiating an uprising of such magnitude that it would compel the federal government to declare a state of emergency in the state.
Since the Supreme Court upheld the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kwamanda had been vocal in his dissatisfaction, criticizing the judgment and blaming President Bola Tinubu for the APC’s alleged failure to retain control of the state.
He also joined others in condemning the recent decisions by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to relocate staff to Lagos, alleging these moves were part of a plan by the Tinubu-led administration to undermine the northern part of the country.
