DSS detains former Ogun PDP gov candidate Adebutu
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Ogun State election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, has reportedly been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).
He was detained on Monday, November 18, 2024.
In a statement signed by the PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Arc. Kayode Adebayo, the party expressed concerns over the detention, claiming it was for reasons yet unknown.
Efforts to secure Adebutu’s release, either on personal recognition or via a surety, have reportedly been unsuccessful as of 10 p.m.

The statement urged party members and supporters to remain calm while legal steps are taken to address the situation.
“This is to inform members of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party, that our leader has been detained by the DSS on charges yet unknown.
“Our principal has called for calm, assuring members, supporters, and well-wishers that this moment will pass. It is one of the prices of democracy.
“Lawyers have been informed and will take up the matter on Tuesday morning. We appeal to everyone to remain peaceful and await a resolution,” the statement read.
The party pledged to keep the public updated as events unfold.
