Department of State Services has released from its custody Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, former media aide to the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.
Yakasai was released from DSS custody on Monday evening, it was learnt
The former media aide was picked up by the agency last weekend, after he sent a post on social media, asking the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to resign over insecurity.
Yakasai, who was sacked on Saturday by Governor Ganduje, had called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration to resign from office, following the abduction of 317 students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara State.
The schoolgirls, who were abducted by bandits on February 26 from their school, have just been released by their abductors.
“Clearly, we as [the] APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign,” Yakasai had tweeted.
Hours after the post, his whereabouts became an issue on social media.
The DSS later confirmed he was with them after an initial denial.
Spokesman for the security agency, Peter Afunanya, said, “This is to confirm that Salihu Tanko-Yakasai is with the Department of State Services.
“He is being investigated over issues beyond the expression of opinions in the social media as wrongly alleged by sections of the public.”
