The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, has urged commercial drivers, especially those plying inter-state routes to drive with caution during the Easter celebrations.
He stated this as part of his Easter celebration goodwill messages to the Christians.
The NURTW boss advised them to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey.
He also said that they should ensure that their vehicles particulars are up-to-date to avoid confrontation with law enforcement agents on the road.
“We are in celebration mood, a lot of people will be travelling from one place to another and that means the road will be very busy. Make sure your vehicles are in good condition to avoid embarrassment and unnecessary delay. Also make sure all your papers are in order to avoid problems with police, VIO, Customs and FRSC men,” Baruwa said.
Again, he advised drivers going on long journey to avoid night travel so as to guide against unpleasant situation on the road.
“I will advise you to set out on your journey early to avoid travelling at night,” he said.
