Edo revenue collectors hack truck driver to death
Some yet-to-be-identified revenue collectors of Ahor Community Development Association, Edo State, have reportedly hacked a truck driver, Suleiman Bala over ₦1000 revenue ticket.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 23, 2025, at Ahor Community, along Benin/Auchi Bye Pass, in suburbs of Benin City.
It was gathered that on day of the incident, the Jos, Plateau State-based driver who came into Benin to deliver some goods, was heading to Lagos, but decided to pass the night at Ahor Motor Pack.
At about 12 am, the revenue agents approached the vehicle of the deceased and his conductor who were sleeping in the truck, and demanded ₦1000 for a ticket.

The conductor who was surprised that the revenue agents were selling tickets in the middle of the night, reportedly offered them ₦400, which they angrily rejected. They then seized the wheel spanner of the vehicle.
The driver who was subsequently woken up, followed the revenue collectors, offered to give them the balance of ₦600 and pleaded with them to return the wheel spanner.
However, the revenue agents reportedly got angry and hit the driver on his head with the wheel spanner, and they disappeared when they saw that he fell down and died.
Meanwhile, the Hausa Community in the State, through their chairman, Alhaji Saleh Badamasi, has petitioned the State Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, demanding justice.
Their petition dated February 24, 2025, was signed by S.O. Osazuwa & Co.
When contacted, the Edo State Police Command spokesman, Moses Yamu, said he was not aware of the incident.
