The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says its operatives in the Ibadan Zonal Office on Tuesday arrested a former soldier, Adebisi Jamiu, said to have deserted the Army, and 33 other suspects for alleged internet fraud.
Spokesman for the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the suspects were picked up in different locations in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Uwujaren said the 22-year-old former soldier, Jamiu, and the other suspects were arrested on the strength of verified intelligence of their alleged involvement in cybercrime.
Other suspects were named as Muritala Olaniyi Lateef, Wasiu Olajide, Wasiu Sadiq, Olaniran Abiodun, Ayodeji Tosin, Olaniran Tayo, Oginni Oluwaseun, Oginni Olatunde, Ojuade Oluwafemi, Ibrahim Wande, Oladiran Olayinka, Akinjobi Akinwunmi, Abayomi Aderohunmi and Olaoluwa Temitope.
Among the suspects are Idowu Olawale, Lawrence Taiwo, Ojo Gbenga, Tiamiyu Farouk, Oladele Seun, Akiniyi Boluwatife, Olaoluwa Mutiu, Olakunle Omolofe, Olalere Samad, Edbadon Johnson, Oketunbi Kayode, Gbeyide Tomiwa, Oluwanisola Elmuqsit, Bathlomew John, Ibikunle James, Olamide Oluwaseyi, Yusuf Mohammed, Adebola Ibrahim and Ajayi Muyiwa.
The EFCC spokesman said the suspects had volunteered statements to the commission and would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
