EFCC arrests ex-power minister Mamman over alleged N22bn fraud
A former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, has been arrested over alleged diversion of the Federal Government’s N22 billion.
He was reportedly picked up on Wednesday morning by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was promptly detained in Abuja.
Mamman was minister under President Muhammadu Buhari between 2019 and 2021.
He was accused of conspiring with some workers of the ministry in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to divert N22 billion.
The investigations uncovered properties in Nigeria and overseas allegedly linked to the suspects, while millions of naira and dollars have reportedly been recovered.
