EFCC Confirms Custody of Chris Ngige Amid Kidnap Rumours
Fred Chukwuelobe, media aide to former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has debunked widespread rumours alleging that the ex-governor of Anambra State had been abducted. He clarified that Ngige is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), not kidnapped.
Reports circulated late Monday claiming that Ngige had been seized by unknown gunmen, raising public concern. However, Chukwuelobe, in a Facebook post, said he had received numerous calls from friends and journalists seeking confirmation on the alleged abduction.

According to him, the former minister is “with the EFCC,” stressing that “he was not abducted or kidnapped,” as speculated.
Chukwuelobe added that further details would be released in due course.
Efforts to reach Dele Oyewale, spokesperson of the EFCC, were unsuccessful as calls and text messages went unanswered.
The clarification comes barely two weeks after Ngige’s convoy was attacked by gunmen disguised in police and army uniforms along the Nkpor–Nnobi road in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State. The attackers opened fire on his escorts, killing a woman who was recording the incident and injuring a police officer and civilians. Ngige was not in the convoy at the time.
