EFCC urged to resume Ganduje corruption case immediately

Prominent public affairs analyst, Mahdi Shehu, has reacted to the reported exit of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing the development as “good riddance” and calling on anti-corruption agencies to swiftly revive and prosecute pending corruption cases against the former Kano governor.

In a statement shared via his official X handle on Friday, Shehu said it made no difference whether Ganduje resigned voluntarily, was pressured to step down, or was forced out of office, insisting that his departure is a welcome relief for both the APC and the Nigerian public.

“We will be eagerly waiting for the EFCC to continue with his pending case and that of his wife regarding the dirty land deal,” Shehu posted, also urging the Kano High Court to proceed with “full force and speed” on the matter.

He described Ganduje’s removal as the beginning of accountability, “Day 1” of accountability, stating that Nigerians are now waiting for “Days 2, 3, 4, 5, and the final day,” in a veiled call for full prosecution and justice in the corruption allegations.

Ganduje has long faced multiple allegations of corruption, the most notable being a viral video showing him allegedly receiving bundles of U.S. dollars from contractors—an accusation he has repeatedly denied, claiming the footage was doctored.

As of the time of this report, neither the APC nor Ganduje has issued an official response to news of his alleged resignation.
